How Solana copy trading works
Copy trading means your wallet buys what another trader's wallet buys. On Solana that usually means memecoins, many launched on Pump.fun, and the famous traders (KOLs) people follow on X, FOMO and Kolscan. This guide covers how it works, why your result differs from theirs, how to pick a trader, and what it costs.
Manual or automatic
There are two ways to copy someone.
- Manual. You follow a trader, get a notification when they buy, then decide and tap buy yourself. Social apps work like this. You choose every trade, but you're always late, and often asleep.
- Automatic. You pick a trader once, and software buys from your wallet each time their public wallet buys, and sells when they sell (on by default). Telegram bots and pro terminals do this, and so does The Chad App's Auto Copy, from your browser.
Copy a Solana wallet, step by step
- Make a free account on thechadapp.com. You must be 18 or older.
- Add SOL to your own wallet in the app. Copies trade from it; the app holds only a limited key that can trade, not send, and you can withdraw any time.
- Pick a trader from the board, or paste any public Solana wallet.
- Set your size: 0.25 SOL to 1 SOL for each copied buy. Copies stop for the day once they've spent 5 SOL, and you can copy up to 3 traders at once.
- Switch the copy on. From then on, when their wallet buys a coin, yours buys it too. Switch it off whenever you like.
Why your copy gets a different price
- You're always second. The copy can only buy after the trader's buy lands on-chain. A memecoin can jump a lot in a few seconds.
- Price impact and slippage. On a small coin your own buy moves the price, and the price can change while your trade is landing. A slippage limit stops a buy from filling at any price.
- Crowding. When many people copy the same famous wallet, they all buy the same coin at once and push the price up for each other.
- Only trades from now on. A copy never buys what the trader already held before you switched it on.
How to pick a trader
- Look past one lucky week. Compare their day, week and month. A big week can be one coin.
- Count the trades. Profit over a handful of trades says little. Wins and losses side by side show how often they're right.
- Mind the style. Some traders flip coins in seconds. A copy that buys after them can't keep up with that, so slower traders are usually easier to copy.
- Check where the numbers come from. Every number on our board says where it's from and when: live from our own listener, or a dated snapshot of a public leaderboard.

What it costs
The account is free. Each copied buy and each sell pays 0.5% of the trade, win or lose. A copy that wins also pays 5% of its profit; a copy that loses pays no profit fee. Small trades have a minimum fee: under $25, a trade pays at least 5 cents, but never more than 2% of the trade.
Example: a copy buys for 0.25 SOL and sells for 0.35 SOL, a 0.10 SOL profit. The fees are 0.005 SOL (5% of the profit) plus 0.003 SOL (0.5% of the buy and of the sell), so you keep +0.092 SOL. Network fees are on top, as on any Solana trade.
The honest odds
Most memecoin wallets lose money. A leaderboard shows the wallets at the top, not the many below them, and a copy gets a worse price than the trader it copies. In our own on-chain read of 17 famous traders' wallets from Sep 29, 2026 to Oct 29, 2026, 6 of them made money on the coins they sold. Being famous doesn't mean winning.
So keep copies small, set the daily limit, and only use money you can afford to lose.
Questions
Do I need a Telegram bot to copy trade on Solana?
No. Most copy tools are Telegram bots or pro trading terminals, but The Chad App's Auto Copy works in your browser: make an account, add SOL to your own wallet in the app, and switch a copy on.
Can I copy any Solana wallet?
Yes. Pick a famous trader from the board, or paste any public Solana wallet (up to 3 pasted wallets).
Why did my copy lose when the trader won?
Your copy buys after the trader does. On a fast memecoin the price can move a lot in that time, so you can pay more than they did and sell for less. Other copiers buying the same coin push the price too.
Is copy trading memecoins profitable?
Often not. Most memecoin wallets lose money, famous traders lose too, and a copy gets a worse price than the trader. Treat it as high risk and only put in what you can afford to lose.
How do I pick a trader to copy?
Look at more than one lucky week: their 30 days, how many trades they made, and their wins and losses, not just their biggest number. A trader with a few huge wins and many losses is harder to copy well.
Can I stop a copy?
Yes, any time, with one switch. Each copy also has a spend limit per buy and per day.
